I said that I would try and put together a visualisation of how much sugar there is in a can of Coca-cola.
It turns out to be the equivalent of 20 sugar cubes. Yes, 20 sugar cubes in one can of coke.
I had a 24 ounce Sprite in the house. So I figured I might as well picturize that as well.
There are 77 grams of sugar in a 24 oz bottle of Sprite.
Seventy-seven grams of sugar is the equivalent of 19 teaspoons of sugar.
Drinking one 24 ounce Sprite a day for a year results in the consumption of 60.8 pounds of sugar.
Drinking one 24 ounce Sprite a day, instead of an equivalent amount of tap water, for a full year would cause you to gain 34 pounds.
Sugar doesn’t scare me though. The box of sugar cubes tells me that “Sugar is a 100% Natural simple carbohydrate. Carbohydrates are an important part of any balanced diet. Sugar contains no fat or cholesterol and has 15 calories per teaspoon.”

I was just saying at lunch today, when I was offered a Sprite, that I had one yesterday and I can’t drink sprite that often because afterwards I feel so gross! I don’t know how you people drink pop all the time!!! I am so much better than you all:)

I think the sugar you find in soda and other soft drinks comes from high fructose corn syrup, not table sugar. Since corn syrup is liquid it mixes well and will stay in solution
