Multiple Birth Rate: 1990 to 2005
Between 1990 and 2005, the rate of multiple births has risen from 2.33 percent of all births to 3.39 percent. Although triplet and higher order multiple births have more than doubled during that time, there were only 6,694 of such births in 2005, as compared to 133,000 twin births.
