I’ve been in contact with the Brooklyn Museum over the course of the last week. They’ve been great and seem very interested in engaging the public to encourage us to interact with their collection.
In that vein, using the same photos which I posted earlier, I’ve created collage which allows us to see a panoramic view of most of the White City. Check out this very cool photo of the White City one last time. I promise, its very cool.

Seeing these photos gathered here was amazing! Not only did they put the book in perspective, the photos made me aware of the true awe-inspiring scope of the exposition.. The ingenuity, the civic pride and manpower.. WOW. We could never again accomplish something like the exposition ever again. Thank you so much for making these available for me to see.

My students and I (Architectural Drafting-Sarasota County Technical Institute) are reading “Devil In The White City as part of our architectural class. It is great to have the photos as part of the project. I did not have them when I first read the book. Thank you for your great work in compiling them - I am sure others are also very appreciative of your efforts.

Can’t thank you enough for putting these photos together. The magnitude of what was accomplished in two short years is mind-blowing. And I cannot believe that as an adult educated in America, I have never heard of the World Columbian exposition until I read “Devil in the White City”. Such a historic milestone in the landscape of American history should be celebrated — it is awe inspiring.

Reading the Devil in the White City prompted me to take a trip to Chicago. Visiting Jackson Park and seeing the Museum of Science & Industry was the highlight. It’s the exact replica of the Palace of Fine Arts. I could only imagine where the other buildings stood. It was awe inspiring. Go visit if you can!

I grew up in Milwaukee and made many trips to Chicago, but like most people commenting here, I never knew about the Columbian Expo until I accidentally came across the Devil In the White City. Great book! Great learning experience! Thank you so much for pulling the pictures together. I’ve been searching all over for these. Also, I just came across the video called “Expo” and it filled in a lot of the information about the expo. I wish I could have been there to see it.

This is the most amazing and comprehensive site of photos on the Columbian Expo, 1893. Just finished Devil in White City.. and this was a perfect conclusion.
Thank you.
